Celebrating Samir Malla, our 43rd Leo’s Kid to survive cancer!

13-year-old Samir first joined us in January this year as our 74th Leo’s Kid and now he has completed active treatment for type of blood cancer.

Samir and his mom had been staying in our Leo’s Kids K-Flats while he was treated at Kanti Children’s Hospital nearby.

For a while, Samir had low blood counts so his medical team had to stop the treatment. Now that his blood counts are stable he has completed his last active treatment. Young Samir is now continuing with his maintenance phase.

Since Samir often needs medical care, he and his mom have decided to stay in Kathmandu in a separate apartment rather than going back to their home in Syangja.

Before his diagnosis, Samir loved playing football

and we hope he will be able to enjoy playing again as he heals.
