Sunil talked to Bipana’s father yesterday who had planned to go to his village, but because of the lockdown he was not able to get out of town in time. He also gave us some input on the lockdown situation in Bhaktapur where Leo’s Kids Flats are located.
According to the experiences of the Leo’s Kids families the lockdown began yesterday as a case of coronavirus was detected in someone who landed in Kathmandu from France earlier. Because of this, mostly Kathmandu and Bhaktapur are locked down even to the point where people are unable to buy necessary items. They are trying to ration some necessary food as quickly as they can to avoid shortages. Our Leo’s Kids and their families get stopped at checkpoints between their flat and the hospital to determine their purpose for being out.
Right now the lockdown is a little less strict than it will become if people don’t take the guidelines seriously. The next step is strict where they will be forced to remain at home.
Our Leo’s Kids Update:
Saraswoti’s blood counts were low the day before yesterday so the doctor had asked them to go find blood. It was difficult to find the number of units she needed, however by the end of yesterday, several units were found from Red Cross, Saraswoti’s dad, and some donors who came specifically for her, and today she says she is doing much better.
Sunil talked to Bishal’s aunt. Bishal and his family decided to go back to their village Nuwakot which is 4 hours from Kathmandu because they knew the lockdown was coming, so they made it out just before the lockdown started. Bishal is doing well, the family is just worried about how long the lockdown might continue.
Bipana is working on her Tik Tok videos and we will post some as she gives us permission to do so.
Amar is doing okay and he is enjoying the carom boards, unlimited internet access, and staying in Leo’s Kids Flats.
Renu is at the hospital completing one round of treatment and is expected to be discharged tomorrow.
Ishwor and his grandpa are doing well and are locked down in their apartment.
Please send prayers and thoughts for our Leo’s Kids and their families as they go through this stressful time of lockdown and uncertainty.
Also, if there are questions you would like to ask the kids to have them answer in a future video log, please ask below or message us and we will pass the questions along to them in Nepalese.
