Ganesh Khanal came to us in June 2021 as our 49th Leo’s Kid and was battling a type of bone cancer. When he had surgery in late September, they had to remove the leg up to the hip.
So by the time Ganesh completed active treatment, he was still using crutches which made it challenging to get around. It was a very discouraging situation for this brilliant young man as he was reluctant to go anywhere anymore.
Ganesh eagerly looked forward to Saturday chats with Sunil to help lift his spirits during this hard time.
Then when Sunil was visiting Nepal in January, he met with a wonderful prosthetist from National Orthopedic Center (NOC) in Nepal named Sudan Badal, who has helped several of our Leo’s Kids with new limbs, made Ganesh’s leg a priority so Ganesh could get back to school in time for exams.
Now Ganesh can walk and maneuver much better and he is so grateful to be able to finish school with a new lease on life!
