What an exciting day as we congratulate Saraswoti and her dad at the end of her treatment! Saraswoti joined us as our third Leo’s Kid, thanks in no small part to Sunil’s meeting Harald Baldr on that first morning in Kathmandu back in early December. Once Harald offered his donation along with contributions from two of his supporters, we knew we could add Saraswoti to begin supporting her in fighting this horrible disease.

It has been 5 1/2 months since we first introduced you to Saraswoti and we are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support she received all over the globe. Without each person involved in Team Leo’s Kids, this day would not have been possible.

We thought you might like to hear from Saraswoti how she is doing and what she is looking forward to now that her active treatment is complete.

Saraswoti shared with us that she has most missed her mom and brothers since it has been 7 months since she has seen them. She is also looking forward to getting back to her schooling (in Nepal they call it plus 2). Really the thing she is most looking forward to is getting back to normal life. That may be a bit different from before with periodic CT scans every few months over the next 2 years and 5 years of doctors’ checkups, but this is definitely better than she could have dreamed 6 months ago.

We will miss hearing Saraswoti’s sweet voice as often as we have, but we are so happy for this thoughtful and kind young woman as she gets back to her life with her family. She and her father have been wonderful members of the community in the Leo’s Kids Flats offering smiles, compassion, comfort, and help to our other wonderful kids and their families.

We are honored to know you, Saraswoti, and to have been a part of this journey with you. You have a beautiful spark in you that we know helps light up the world around you. Our thoughts and our prayers go with you as you begin the next step of your journey toward healing. May God bring you strength and joy in these coming days. Your life is such a gift to everyone who knows you.
